This year we saw Valentine’s Day falling within the same week as the Chinese New Year. Given the strong family oriented celebration, coupled with the long holidays, many had taken the opportunity to travel overseas. The repercussion? We believe many people had given Valentine’s Day a miss for the more important and busy Chinese new year celebration. Hence, even with the wider variety of designs and prices, we saw lesser people buying flowers for their loved ones this year. Nevertheless, as with every year, we enjoyed ourselves during this season arranging orders for Valentine’s moments. Many of our florists though admitted that it is hard work but had equally enjoyed themselves working alongside many other fellow florists and friends.
Size does matter. That’s why we had arranged this contrasting mix of red roses with casablanca while lilies in a hand held bouquet. A large bouquet to remind her how much you love her.
Note: In esoteric and mystery teachings, lily meaning s include, Development, Growth, Progress, Freedom & Purity. The lily also holds symbolism of purity and innocence. The lily is a symbolic flower of health and provision.
The Romans adopted the rose as a symbol love, secrecy, and beauty. Roman dining-room ceilings were displayed with roses, reminding guests to keep secret what had been said during dinner. The Latin words sub rosa means “under the rose” and to this day means “confidentiality.” Roses were also part of Greek mythology. The Goddess of Love, Aphrodite, is said to have created the rose when shedding her tears and the blood of her lover Adonis.

This Sunday 17 June 2012 is Father’s Day. Being a Dad myself, father is often the forgotten ‘lot’, in some quiet small way, father’s do want to feel important too and what’s most important to Dads today is knowing that their children are still thinking of them. Yes, it is the thought that matters most. What better way to remind Dad that you are still thinking of him by sending him something this father’s day.
